Sacred Silence:
The retreat has come to an end and for many of us so many layers have been peeled, so much has been seen and overcome and today there was an atmosphere of deliverance.
Love pulsated, helping many hearts to open even more, bringing us closer to ourselves and to our sweet Beloved. We stand in wonder and gratitude for this miracle of love.
Now it is time to take care of this vulnerable and open space that we are in when we go back to our daily lives.
That which is real never dies, and that which we remember sitting at our Beloveds feet – is always with us in our hearts.
"There is no end to THIS. May everyone leave in peace, in love, in freedom.
I love you."
Vasant Swaha

After days of peeling layers and layers to move deeper into ourselves and get the taste and flavour of silence, today we erupted into a joyful celebration.
Our wild Master was pleased with his cooking and made the whole Satsang explode into releasing celebration, sufi style!
Love expressed itself.

In yesterday's wonderful Satsang Swaha continued sharing wisdom from Buddha, and he commented beautifully on what Buddha calls the Three Steps to Freedom.

The first step is: Become the master of your own body.
If you are not the master of your body, you can easily end up hurting someone. Being the master of your own body, you go beyond the body and its emotions. Only then can you use it as a good vehicle and have it serve Truth.
The second step is: Beware the anger of your mouth.
Be conscious about how you communicate with others. What energy are you sending out? Are you hurting or helping? Are you sending out anger or love? Become the master of your words and make them serve Truth.
The third step is: Beware of the anger of your mind.
Master your thoughts. Watch and witness. Take control of the reins of this wild chariot and steer it with awareness. Then you are the master of your mind and it can serve Truth.

Quote of the day:
"Remember you are seeking freedom, awareness, peace.
Stay connected, stay on the path. It is very easy to get lost.
Try everything, and the more understanding the easier it is to stay connected.
You will be very happy."

Sacred Silence:
Dharma Mountain is silent. Slowly we have settled into our own company as nature has settled under the snow. Indeed it seems to be supporting our process of going deeper into ourselves and into silence. Icy trees and clear skies. Silence, broken only by the sound of our feet on the cold snow and the odd car having trouble starting. Truly a Winter Wonderland.
To help us go even deeper, the program this week is mainly Vipassana meditation. Swaha invites us to sit still, to be relaxed and yet at the same time alert. In this awake state we reflect and watch, using awareness to observe our mind's blind spots and programs, being present without getting involved in its actions.
This takes practice and needs to be done with care, attention and dedication. We need to be steady. For the more we bring this wakefulness into our daily lives, the more the light within grows. Then wakefulness becomes a way of life. Then we are following the path of the Awakened ones.

Quote of the day:
"Silence is a very fragile flower. You have to take care of it for it to grow. Whatever you give energy to, whatever you give water to, will grow."

Sacred Silence:
This first week of the retreat, is spent in Inquiry - searching for the Truth in our hearts and finding ways to be more present - the first step in meditation. The process requires that we listen to our hearts, not our minds, and that we have love and compassion with ourselves, yet also courage and curiosity to 'take it to the edge', to dig deeper.
Swaha's message to us today was; Love yourself, and watch! Get to know yourself, see your habits, patterns, 'trips'. Become intimate with yourself so that you can become your own Master. But first, love yourself! For how can you be intimate with somebody you don't love?
As the last day of, what we say is the year 2008, came to an end, gentle snow covered our old tracks and we welcomed the new year in grateful silence.

Quote of the day:
"The heart is very very shy. It is very very fragile. So, you have to be very quiet and intimate to listen to what it wants to tell you."

Beloved friends, we had some technical problems yesterday and we where not able to record the Satsang.
Instead, we like to share a beautiful talk about the role of the Sangha and what it means to be involved in the play that happens around a mystic.

Quote of the day:
"The Sangha is the people - the lovers of Truth - who are making Truth more available."

The crispy white landscape provided a Christmas card like backdrop for the first Satsang of the Sacred Silence retreat.
It was held in the beautiful and brand new Satsang Hall at Dharma Mountain yesterday.
In Satsang Swaha encouraged us to use the opportunity to experiment with ourselves, to challenge old patterns and behaviours, and to seek for ourselves the awareness of what is real and what is not real. To help us in this process he has introduced a diet of no sugar, milk or coffee.
As an example that it is possible to be free from the habits of the mind and the addictions of the body, even Swaha will, for the duration of the retreat, drop his beloved coffee!
Every day you will find the Satsang from the day before here on the News-page. This is a great opportunity to stay connected. Click the link below to listen to the Satsang from yesterday.

Quote of the day:
"Change, should only come out of an understanding - it has to come from yourself. Not because somebody tells you; this is good and that is bad. You have to feel it in your own body, in your own mind, in your own heart."
